After almost 3 weeks with parents and family in NC we are back home and starting to chill out.
What a superb time though! Walks, bike rides, card games, ocean and pool dips, seafood, bbq, water moccasin and alligator sitings, lake swims, and family!
The last few days we celebrated my dad’s 80th at Montreat, a mountain retreat area not far from
Asheville. Twenty-five of us stayed rented out a small inn and had a blast. Dad and Mom even climbed the Lookout Peak with us.
I took few photos because I was so busy.
I’ve gotten a couple raffle ticket “orders”— thank you!
When we left NC it was 94 and extremely humid. When we landed it was 70!
The cooler temps have put me in the mood to hook a Halloween rug. Maybe I’ll design one.
Unless someone has a favourite
pattern recommendation?

It looks like a wonderful trip. My son lives in that area of N.C. too. When we were there in the fall, it was quite a show. A beautiful place. So nice you got to spend time with your parents.
Wonderful time with family and so special. Shame you live so far apart.
That sounds absolutely heavenly! I bet your mum and dad were thrilled to have everyone together...and they look/sound like they are very fit for their ages. Dang, dang, dang... I completely spaced the raffle. Gah! I hate when I do that stuff. Off to search for your email with your address.... ~Robin~
What a fun vacation you all had. It's been years since I've been on a vacation. Something I used to do in August every year. My brother and sister-in-law would rent a cottage by the bay and we would gather at the cottage for a good time with family and friends.
Since my parent are both gone, things have changed. I'm glad that you can still enjoy yours. I agree, they both look fit and healthy.
Thanks for delivering the tickets. I can picture that rug in my home...
Hugs,
Julia
You’re lucky to be able to go. Hubby and I did the NC mountains every fall for years!
It is a shame Saundra but my parents LOVE it up here so it’s good when they come
It was an awesome time indeed! And yes my folks walk every morning and bike up to 5 miles in the afternoons. They put me to shame
Travel has always been important for me. And good luck with the draw
Happy birthday to your dad!
Sweet you were able to spend time with them. Twenty five people staying together. How fun.
And super challenging for mom who braved her anxiety of covid and relaxed and enjoyed. She has immune issues so protects with mask most of the tkme
My nephew lives pretty close to Ashville. You can see the mountains from his house even though he lives in the valley. Glad you were able to celebrate with your dad for his birthday! How fun to have done the hike...but not fun about the snake and alligator sightings. Janice
It sounds like a wonderful place to spend time with the family.
Love the photos of your parents on the trail.
Debbie
Your nephew is lucky- though Asheville has exploded with people so I hope he’s at a quiet distance. The trip was a blessing
My folks are extraordinary! Mom ran her bike into dad’s two years ago causing a fracture in his pelvis. His doc told him it was time to put the bike up. He hasn’t
