Looking for Colour in a White World

The title, arguably, sounds like the beginnings of a political assertion but I'm referring to the whiteness of Winter. Though New Brunswick plays host to a fierce Winter it is hardly just white. On my morning amble I made it my mission to look for flashes of colour. And I found them. From the obvious red of my arbor...

to the more hidden bush berries...

Looking harder, I snapped a photo of my Scottie, Lucy. She is often called "white;" yet she is far from it. Regard the sweet girl:

I see shades of khaki, oranges, even greens, blues and purples. Indeed, hookers who seek detail for a snowy scene (the fine shaders, perhaps not the primitive hookers) use a wide variety of colours, using pure white in minuscule amounts, if at all. Snow is blue, purple, pink, gray, tan, even black in places.
Though Winter's hues are not as obvious as Summer's, the better observer will note that they are there, splendid and waiting for the keen eye to behold.
Find colour today!

I feel for you living in the "white" world. My daughter lives in Chicago and I would call that a gray world. They go for months in winter without seeing the sun. Not a lot of snow. I live in the central valley of California and we have some fog but that's about all. We have to force our roses in dormancy! But a little snow would be nice around Christmas.

there is a lot of color in the winter if we just take a few minutes to look around.
So nice to find a new blogger.

Hi Kim, I came over from my lovely blogger friend Lauren from Rugs and Pugs. I think you and I live not far from each other. I'm enjoying the warmer weather these last few days but's there's not much color around here, since Christmas is over.
Your name sounds familiar. I took hooking lessons from Elisabeth Bastin in Fredericton some years ago.

I haven't done much hooking this winter. I've been restless since my retirement in November so I know what you mean.
