HAPPY CANADA DAY!
🇨🇦
We are staying put, not attending fireworks and whatnot, at our new-to-us cottage on the country. We just explored further on an atv trail by our place; we ended up with a lovely 5 mile walk which wandered between a creek and the river. Surprisingly, pretty bug-free.
It has been an incredibly easy adjustment, moving from urban to rural life. I go the 22 minute drive with hubby up to 3x a week for work and volunteer; but even the drive is pleasant. When alone here, my routine is garden, lunch, walk, projects, and supper prep.
I’ve gotten my sketch pad out again and have been considering putting rug pdf patterns on Etsy. If you’ve used Etsy feel free to persuade or dissuade me from them. About 20 years ago I sold patterns on eBay but got weary drawing out patterns on linen.
Not my bag baby.
I’m prepping for some travels: a birthday celebration in NC, a trip with my dad and younger sister to Scotland, and then another archaeological dig involving human remains from the 18th century.
As my geometric rug is looking very much the same, just longer, I’ll leave you with
more eye candy from the happy place where I volunteer…

Looks as though you have settled in quite nicely and that "river life" suits you. I am sure that the other seasons will bring their own beauty.
Glad you've been able to explore - what a gem to find a trail so close and to make frequent treks on.
Those raised gardens look amazing as well!
Enjoy your travels - always nice to get away.
Happy Canada Day!
I've purchased pdf patterns from others before as I don't mind drawing on linen. I know how to do the sketches but have no clue how to get those nice professional looking drawings and wouldn't want to sell my primitive hen scratched ones.
Happy Canada Day.
Thank you Peggy. It does suit us to a T. Winter will be long but apparently snowshoe parties are big!
I will have to have someone scan and help me figure it all out. With me, anything technical feels like a mountain in front of me.
I'm glad that you are enjoying the rural life. It's so peaceful. The trail is an added bonus. Your gardens are looking promising. It sounds like your summer is packed with interesting stuff. I was in Glasgow Scotland in May 2005, and it was so lovely and green with Azelias in bloom everywhere and so many awesome museums and great places to see and experience. I know that you'll enjoy every minute of your adventure.
Happy Canada Day.
Hugs, julia
Ok...I will leave you to your birthday celebration in NC, but please, Please, PLEASE can I come along on your dig and Scotland trip???? Lucky, lucky, you!! I am SOOO jealous! River country life certainly suits you. It looks like you are whipping things in to shape quickly. The gardens are looking wonderful. Great views along your walk. Everything looks so lush and green. We are hazy from the wildfires...and have only had 1 day of rain (a week ago) in almost 2 months. Happy Canada Day! ~Robin~
Happy 156 Canada Day! Your neck of the woods looks pretty. Hope you have fun in Scotland. Take lots of pictures for us. Loved seeing all of the old things displayed. Would love a nice bug free walk. We have had air quality warnings for the past 4 days due to the Canadian wildfires, however to us it smells like plastic which is very odd. Janice
I am sorry for our sending smoke your way. I heard firefighters from all over the world are up here. The plastic smell is weird- I would hate to know what all is in the smoke!!! Thank you for the Canada Day well wishes!
Happy early 4th!!
Things are lush and green and NB folk feel guilty griping about the rains whilst our neighbor province fight fires. And our US friends are in drought.
I’d let you ride in my suitcase if I could! I will let you live vicariously through pictures. Erosion is sucking graves into the sea
so the goal there is to save as many remains as possible.
What a lovely place you have settled. And you have some wonderful trips ahead. We are getting that rain also. We need the sun so desperately.

Happy belated Canada Day.
I love pdf patterns!!! I am apt to buy a pattern I like if it is a pdf because the cost is pretty minimal but don't like purchasing on linen unless I am sure I want to hook it!!!
A trip to Scotland. LUCKY YOU!
What a beautiful place you now call home ;-)
Cathy, as I’m writing this it’s raining! The moss is happy, that’s all I can say. So we can commiserate. Yes, our spot is terrific and just what we both needed.
That is good to know. I’m a pdf fan myself. If I change my mind in a project I’m not out $100!
First went to Scotland as a 7 year old. Travel was so rare in 1977 in our neck of the woods that we showed slides at schools to awestruck peers. This will be number three and with my elderly dad . Very much a must do…
