Moving along

Well, we’re about 1/3 moved into our new place by the river. Twenty minutes from town but a world away. Bald eagles— we suspect there’s a nest in a towering pine in the yard—bears, mud swallows, red squirrels, and a peepers.

Hubby is working from the gazebo this morning.

Wednesday I roamed my favourite historic village and snapped some photos. Now that I volunteer there I go behind the scenes and meet the villagers (and now I’m not allowed to name the place as it’s a social media conflict. Ok). The place doesn’t open to public until next week. Anyway, it was great to meet the people; I was shown where ice cold spring water was and was given many flower seeds.

So. Pics from yesterday. The “setting time” is the 1860s.

This is an octagonal outhouse with a fresh coat of paint. It seats four inside. So my question… what family is close enough, and regular enough, to sit at the same time?
It remains to be seen how the distance will affect my very pt work. I have some ideas but stay tuned.

If you don’t know, our neighbor province, Nova Scotia, is suffering horrendous fires which continue to roar, taking homes and woods. No humans have lost lives but my heart is sick for the animals and trees.

Glad you are settling in to your new home. I always love peeking into historic homes. Would love to be a volunteer myself to get behind the scene. Will pry that the fires stop. I had heard about them already. Janice

Well....now I AM curious LOL. Looks absolutely lovely. I'm intrigued by the binding of the stems (presumably for drying?) I've heard/read about the wildfires and we are feeling the effects down our way believe it or not. We've had many air quality warnings because of the smoke. And, uh, yeah...that outhouse. Seriously?? That's going to keep me awake tonight. ~Robin~

A four seater? No thank you. Not even interested in a two seater...lol!
Prayers for the people of Nova Scotia.
I hope your move goes smoothly. It sounds like a lovely place to live.

I would like to work inside the historic homes but we are away too often in summer and it’s open Wednesday thru Sunday. Nova Scotia is getting rains! Thank you for prayers!

It’s gonna be esp nice when everything is all moved in. The water is so beautiful; I could stare all day.

If you look at old blogs you will see the name of where I am. I assume it’s for drying, yes. It’s amazing how smoke travels so far and affects so many. The outhouse: Talk about no privacy! Whew!

The outhouse is so strange. We’re loving the river. Yesterday it was 95 degrees and today it’s 55. Crazy

Your new place looks very inviting. I'm sure you'll enjoy staying there. That's some fancy outhouse. 4 seater, that's pretty cool. I hope the bears won't bother you but they can be a nuisance.

My heart goes out to all those who are affected by those terrible wildfires. So much destruction and those poor birds and animals.

I've been working outside in that heat yesterday and today also but what a difference in temperature. The wind felt cold this afternoon.

Hugs,
Julia
