Amazing Women

Autumnal Greetings!!!Front yard now

This fantastic mat, approximately 15x18 was hooked in 10 days by a woman in Reach. Reach is a day program for those suffering from mental disorders. She takes a sharpie and sketches a few lines onto her backing and then grabs colours. This is an accurate, folksy, depiction of our group! I’m the standing blonde! The women in this group never cease to amaze me. They are courageous.

I bought these from a local maker. Aren’t they great? I was thinking snowmen would be super for Christmas time.

My parents are here! They made the long drive north from the Myrtle Beach area. It took them four days. I am guessing this is their last attempt at the arduous drive. Mom is afraid of flying after years of doing so.

A fun tradition that our rug hook in on group has done at Halloween: an Ugly/MonstrousWool Swap. This involves a 3x12” swatch of hideous wool (or autumnal wool) and one’s fav candy bar. The exchange is done at the meeting closest to Halloween. Simple!

I love that hooked rug and admire her ability to do basic sketch and achieve such great work. That ugly monstrous wool swap sound like fun and hope you take photos of some of that wool because I'll bet there will be some beauties in there which other people think is ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What a beautiful rug. This lady puts me to shame. She has talent and is not afraid to use it. Good for you to be teaching them to hook. Thanks for sharing. Your Halloween lanterns are super.

I'll be looking for that ugly piece of wool to swap. I hope I can find some since I donated a lot of my wool to goodwill last year.

Your parents are courageous. It's a long drive. We drove from Fredericton to Miami and it was years ago but it's a long drive.

Take care, hugs,
Julia

Wow...the lady who did that mat does incredible work...Not only her artwork but her loops and rows are so precise and tidy. Please don't tell me this was her first time hooking or I think I will give up the craft LOL. The swap sounds like a fun event... Enjoy your parent time! Hope they escaped the ravaging by Ian. ~Robin~

Tis true. The ugliest wool makes for best colouring so often!! I’ll try to remember to take snaps too

My parents are loving the fall colours with warm weather. Yes the woman is amazing but you’re a superb hooker too!!

The traffic up here was horrendous on 95. I too have lots of ugly wools. They make great rugs🙂

They missed our thanksgiving but so did we, we were in Maine. We’re having a blast with my folks!

Thanks for stopping in Janice!

My parents only lost limbs from Ian. Tree limbs, not human limbs!
This lady has been hooking for a couple of years. Her designs have always been awesome but her hooking has vastly improved
