Lockdown lowdown

Looks like we’re in for a long end to January here in New Brunswick Canada. A lockdown whilst omicron has its way. Hubby can work from home but I work with seniors. Thankfully, I cram it in to two days/week.

I’ve turned my attentions to the Woolen Memories’ mat. I’m going for subtle and primitive. Colours aren’t great with my camera but:

Thanks for recommendations for prim teachers! I’m signed up for a zoom class of Magdalena Briner Eby mat style (with Ribbon Candy), and I’ve contacted another teacher too.

I’ve hooked since 2000 and have taken whatever classes come my way but never prim and I’d like some more development there.

Though it is -17c today, I must walk. Our place is too small for healthy mental health and I need an outing. (Yes, we’re “allowed” distanced outdoor space). Yesterday it was just at freezing and the woods were magical.

I know it seems like the same photo of dog Willie Nelson over and over, but it’s new.
And it’s too cold for Willie to walk today!
Willie is our landlord’s dog; he  has a big fenced yard but she  doesn’t walk him.
Our own dog, Lucy, is winding down. Our fav Scottie turns 14 next week and she sleeps and sleeps and only eats a little. Sigh. Seems like she’s been old forever.

May your own weekend be full of hope and nature and kindness!

I'd certainly think outdoor walking without a mask would be a normal part of life, particularly since you are walking along a wooded path. What I find crazy and have seen it is a single person in a car driving with a mask on. And another time I saw someone riding a bicycle alone with a mask on. It just boggles my mind.
Like your hooked rug and rug hooking is what keeps me sane.

Lockdown again , I wish we would have that in the States too ...this virus is just taking it's toll on every aspect of life .
Nothing better for the heart & soul & mind than walking outdoors , my mental therapy & happy place .
Your hooking looks beautiful !

We’re supposed to mask if in an outdoor space where it’s hard to distance- line grocery parking lot. I couldn’t mask and bike! Wow! Hooking does help keep me sane. A big comfort .

Yes it has helped in the past for our province to do this. No doubt hard tho. My family in NC and Va have done some self imposed lockdowns when numbers get bad.
If I can’t get outdoors, things get ugly!

Love your Woolen Memories rug. She has so many wonderful patterns.
Thanks for the heads up on Willie. I was wondering if you got a new furbaby. So nice of you to walk him. My neighbors across the street have 3 beagles. Normally the owners stand on the porch and smoke and have the dogs on long flexi-leads. On a rare day they will walk them about 40'down the sidewalk.
Sending pug hugs to your Lucy. It is so hard to watch them age.
I know many who are vaxxed and boosted and still have gotten the omicron variant. No one has been very sick and most liken it to a cold. I do believe it is beginning to weaken and hopefully soon it will be but a terrible memory.

Your rug is coming along beautifully.... Doesn't look like you need much teaching as far as prim goes...looks like you're achieving it wonderfully here. Such great coloring. That path through the woods looks so very enticing. I know what you're saying about Lucy....same is happening with my Snowdog. It's so heartbreaking. ~Robin~

I decided that I was going to stay put after the holidays, I knew this would happen. My son and his wife are sick so staying away from them for now. Hopefully it will run its course, soon. I need to get out myself, but the cold temps make it hard. Looks like a beautiful place to walk.

wonderful job with the woolen memories rug I have several of her patterns and I am working on one right now. It is so sad when our pets get old but glad you have a dog to take with you.
We are the opposite of locked down and it shows our numbers are crazy. I double mask when I go out and hope for the best

That makes me sad for the beagles- that breed has a lot of energy. Yes the omicron is here. Too many around haven’t gotten any or all vax. Our cases are exploding now so we’ve got a couple weeks, I think.

Thank you Robin. I’m enjoying this pattern. Done some pulling out but I usually do. I’m sorry Snowdog is at this point too. So hard. Lucy is just drinking now.

You’re smart Debbie! Self imposed isolation would bring some unwanted opinions I imagine. Today is extremely cold too. I have to pick up a grocery delivery and am dreading!

Thank you! Which pattern are you doing ?
Yes we went from 80 cases a day in our province to 900! Def in the thick of it now which is why we’re locked down.

Your rug is looking good. Am so over this covid. Wish it would hurry up and go away. Janice
