Regarding my hooking Guardians of the Orchard by Black Sheep Wool,
I'm struggling with whether or not I like the blues at the border.
It may be too light to support the dark crows.
And as you can see (below), the border lines do not fall
on the grain- they are not meant to.
I'm having an issue with that too.
I don't think I want to hook all the way out to the line beyond-
too much border for the central image.
Thoughts?
I plan to finish this at the hook-in mid Febrarury.
It will be placed at my bedside to warm my footsies!
More snow is falling.
I'm gonna have to get out the roof rake today as the mudroom
roof is looking too heavy with snow.
That's another object I knew nothing about until moving to Canada!
Who rakes a roof?!

I raked a roof today our porch. Not fun! Is the border wavy? If not it should fall on the grain so your rug does not warp.

I love your rug ! Here in New England , we sometimes need roof rakes ,especially in Vermont , they have had so much snow ! Crazy !!!
We have roof rakes here in Michigan too! Your rug is looking good. Janice
Yes the border is wavy but I’m not sure I like it. I think I’ll hook some more and then decide

Couple ideas here ~ I agree with Cathy that the very edge of all four sides should be hooked down the same row (ditch if you will) But think you could pull off the wavy look by slanting a row of hooking using the same wool for an inch or so and filling in those loopless areas with a different color wool. Not sure I explained it right.
As for the very bottom part of the border, hooking it the same width as the others and using some dark in it would balance the look from the dark and beautiful birds.
I think the blue looks swell ~ love love wonky borders
~ don't feel that all borders have to be on grain...more organic shapes just appeal to me I guess :)

If you haven't figured it out by the time of your hook in, I'm sure you could gets lots of input there.
