Merry Christmas
After being stuck in Washington, DC for 25 hours during the wind storm, I managed to make it back to New Brunswick.
Dad is slow but on the mend from his open heart. My son from NYC flew in and my daughter and her boyfriend from Montreal came in last night. We are all snug as a bug in our 650 sq ft cottage—- it can be done.
This season’s family crises and topsy turvy planning have meant I have needed to throw myself on Christ; this has meant laying aside all my expectations and ideas of a perfect holiday. Sometimes several times an hour.
I leave you with a photo of our daughter gazing at gifts beneath the tree, our Reggie cat beside the tree and , our son in a a surprise market meetup with a high school friend. Merry Christmas; whatever it looks like!

So very happy to hear your dad is on the mend. So scary.
What an airport nightmare. It was bad enough for you, but could you imagine having little kids is tow and being stuck for that many hours? Kind of like last Christmas when so many flights were cancelled or delayed. It is good to know you are all snuggled back in your own bed and your kids are home for the holiday in your cozy little dwelling.
Merry, merry Christmas!
Mine will be quiet albeit a short trip to see my son and family on Christmas day. Good to hear your dad is on the mend and children close by for the holiday. Merry Christmas to you as well.
So happy to hear you are all tucked in and ready for the holiday.
So glad your dad is doing well
Merry Christmas
Cathy
"Whatever it looks like" about sums it up for me as well. But it sounds like you are still keeping Christmas well. Nothing better than having those you love best tucked around you. Merriest of Christmas wishes to you and your family Kimm. ~Robin~
Thank you!!!!! Yes it would be a nightmare to have kids in tow; and if it’s a weather issue, the airline totally abandons you. Anyway… we don’t travel in winter unless it’s an emergency. Merry Christmas to you too! Sheepunderfeet
A quiet Christmas sounds amazing! Enjoy your son and fam, Saundra. And Merry Christmas to you too! Sheepunderfeet
Thanks Cathy. Being home is superb!! No snow on the ground but cold cold. Merry Christmas! Sheepunderfeet
Robin, thank you! We love having the kids around and we today we had a nice trip to the local festive farmer’s market. Happy Christmastide to you. May it be a nice season! Sheepunderfeet
I'm glad that your father is on the mend and that you could visit him. Traveling by plane, especially during this time of year is not as easy as it used to be. We had to fly to Ottawa for my brother-in-law's funeral and returned home in that wind and rain storm. It was a bit rough descending and landing but the skilled pilot got us down safely.
It will be a quiet Christmas here as well. I've gotten used to it since 2020 when we had to cancel Christmas dinner because of the huge snowstorm and after, the pandemic.
Merry Christmas, peace, love, joy and hope.
Julia
Glad your father is doing better and also glad you made it home with your family all together. Hope it was a magical Christmas for you. Janice
