Scherenschnitte

Scherenschnitte

By Pamela Dalton, NY

My son got me this beautiful German papercut angel duo for Christmas.
Once I signed up for a course on this art, aka Scherenschnitte, but it was canceled due to lack of interest.
 Imagine!

We are so enjoying the presence of our children here, one from NY and one from Montreal.
The days race to departure and this mom  is trying to savour and slow them. Games, walks, food and lots of laughter…
I have to say: though I enjoy cooking sometimes, I spent too much time Christmas Day preparing dishes. Though we’re enjoying leftovers now I was so exhausted by mid-afternoon that I was glad when the day ended. Note to self: do it differently next year.
NOW I am able to meditate on Christ and the wonderful gift of His here-ness. So grateful!
As covid peaks again, may we appreciate the present day. Inhale, exhale, thankful…

                         ♥️♥️♥️♥️

Beautiful scherenschnitte! A class in that would be so much fun.
(You need to rethink the color of your background or font. I could barely read the post.)

The paper cutting was wonderful and am sure you thought the white background and black text would look well together....but not so much, lol. You can still change that if you want by going into "design" highlighting the script and changing the background color to something more neutral. JMHO.

Beautiful piece of art. I actually did Scherenschnitte years and years ago... No classes here that I have ever heard of - and no You Tube how-to videos back then either LOL. (Obviously dating myself here...) I eventually learned that the real key is in using the proper scissors. It's all about the details, ya know? ;-) Enjoy your remaining time with the kiddos.... ~Robin~

All these paper cut artists are coming out of the woodwork. Impressive! I imagined it would be the scissors and good eyes. My eyes aren’t as good at 51. I do want to learn

Maybe you’ve come across some for your antique shop? Yes I will cherish it. He purchased it at the American Folk Art museum in NYC. That’s on my to go to list for sure.

Thanks Saundra. I do appreciate that. I had cut and pasted the spelling for Scherenschnitte and it set my text that way for the post. My eyes need all the help they can get!
