Thrift Deals and things

October is simply skipping along!

I scored some lovely transfer ware at a local thrift.

I planned to resell it but it’s too sweet.

(From G&W Late Mayers, Melbourne)

The tureen is in nice shape, no chips.

The platter is good too.

I adore the owl on the platter.

The tureen and platter were $50 Canadian total.

My other purchase was a numbered photo

of Bette Davis:

My pregnant onion plants look awful.

How come my outdoor gardens thrive

but my indoor plants die?

I give up.

Our rug hooking meetings have re-started for Fall

with lots of precautions in place.

I’m working on my son’s 30th birthday rug.

Our covid numbers are climbing for the first

time since March.

My face masks are just a part of my wardrobe now.

May your weekend be wonder-filled.

Our numbers are climbing too. Here in NH we were doing very well but since school started and sports it has gone up. I wear a mask 9 hours a day when I work 4 days a week, and when ever I leave the yard. Wow that is one nice piece. I have an issue with dishes I love them all I need to really weed out.

Oh I adore that transferware! Is it black or brown??? And, yes!! The owl is particularly lovely!! Our numbers here are on the rise as well....but they actually got worse following the governors' mandatory mask order (put in place months ago), 75% shut down of businesses and gatherings (put in place weeks ago) and closure of schools. Ai yi yi..... What's wrong with your onion?? And is it a special "decorative" or ornamental onion??? We have snow here. No matter when it gets here, I'm not ready....but it is messing with me getting my outdoor decorating done for Halloween LOL. ~Robin~

Iowa governor just extended health guidelines (theoretical business restrictions with few penalties for disobeying, in reality) until mid-November, but she STILL won't issue a mask order. Keeps saying "rely on people to do the right thing", but we know how well that's (NOT!) working.

Houseplants... so finicky! I have trouble keeping most of them looking good for long too. And to make matters worse, opposite issues (too much and not enough water) can cause the same symptoms like yellowing or drooping leaves... I don't have nearly as many plants in this house as I had in the past house. I suspect lighting, or that this house is more tightly sealed.

That owl is sweet!

Masks get hot don’t they? My dish obsession is new.
Help!

The transfer wear is brown. I don’t know what’s wrong with the pregnant onion. It’s poisonous but in the old days people used the leaves like aloe on wounds. I can’t imagine snow. It usually arrives in November. But I took in my pumpkins and baked them so I need another before Halloween

I know it. House plants are so needy. They’re always wanting water, wanting less water, wanting more sun or wanting less sun.
I’m one of those people who needs to know Why before I comply. When I read the impact of two wearing masks against covid, I complied

Great transferware pieces you scored. I always kill inside plants, so no longer try. Janice

I love your transferware. Your pregnant onion plant looks healthy to me. It's natural that the older leaves fall off as the plant grows. They just need to be removed to make the plant look tidy. It's the same with spider plants.
Stay safe and well.

I sure hope that’s the case Julia! I always admire them at Kings Landing and so I got it at Scott’s. Staying well so far!
